Board to Conduct Superintendent Search

At the Reading Board of Education's Special meeting on October 21, 2019, the Board will be discussing the search for a new superintendent. Chuck LaFata, who has served as superintendent of the Reading Community City School District since 2016, will be retiring from the district in July 2020. Prior to his role as superintendent, Mr. LaFata was the principal of Reading High School for 11 years. His career in education has spanned more than 40 years.

The Reading Board of Education has contracted with the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) to conduct the superintendent search. OSBA has completed nearly 1,000 district superintendent and treasurer searches over the past four decades.

“We feel that OSBA has the experience and connections to enable us to recruit the best fit for Reading Schools to take our district to the next level,” said Reading Board President Kevin Kaiser. “We appreciate Mr. LaFata’s service to Reading Schools. His experience has been invaluable to meet all the challenges of opening our beautiful new school.”

We will share updates with parents and the community as the search moves forward.
