Daily breakfast and lunch distribution will continue through our free summer lunch program. The Reading Community City School District will be serving free meals for children Ages 1-18 beginning June 8. The exact end date in August for the summer lunch program has not been set due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty of the start date of the 2020-21 school year.
On Monday through Friday, from 10:30 a.m.-12 noon, lunch for that day, and breakfast for the next day will be provided. Social distancing guidelines and health precautions will be in place as we distribute meals curbside in the front circle at Reading High School, 810 E. Columbia Avenue, Reading.
Our Reading families and those in surrounding communities are welcome to participate in our free summer meal program. Both cold and hot family-friendly meals will be offered. See menu below. Adults can also purchase a meal at a reduced rate of $2 per meal.
This summer, because of the COVID-19 building closure, we will not be able to offer gym time. Please note: our meal program is closed on Friday, June 5.
SSO (Seamless summer option ensures that good nutrition is provided to children ages 1-18 throughout the days of summer. This program is part of the National School Lunch Program and operates under the guidance of the USDA.
