Thanksgiving Message

Hello Reading Families...on behalf of the Board of Education and the staff of Reading Community City Schools, I would like to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.  As I reflect on all the things to be thankful for this year, I am certainly thankful for the opportunity to be a Blue Devil and to work alongside our Board of Education, administrative team, teaching staff, and support personnel to serve the students and families of this community.  It is an honor and privilege to be here.

RCCSD has faced challenges unlike anything we have experienced in education during our lifetimes.  Providing the best education possible while navigating the guidance, expectations, and obstacles to overcome has been a monumental task.  My sincerest of thanks to all of those involved in that process, and in particular our teaching staff, who have had to reimagine and deliver instruction and support for students in ways most of us have never dreamed of, let alone were prepared for as we approached this school year.  The effort and commitment of all staff members is nothing short of remarkable, and I am grateful for their work to support our students.

School districts are being affected tremendously by what happens outside of the walls of our buildings.  While the protocols in place create a very safe learning environment, actions outside of school have had a negative impact on in-person learning and extracurricular activities.  Like most districts, we have seen evidence of this in RCCSD during the last two weeks. We ask that everyone take precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19, including wearing masks, maintaining distance, proper hygiene, and staying home when not feeling well.  If your student(s) become a positive case or are a close contact of a positive case, we ask that you please contact the district at 513-842-5203 to notify our nursing staff of those concerns.

It is our goal to return to the blended learning model on November 30th and to restart our winter athletic season.   Staffing concerns will have a significant impact on this decision and we will closely monitor all developments throughout the holiday weekend in advance of November 30th.  Any updates will be communicated as soon as possible.

Please have a safe, healthy, and enjoyable holiday.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Superintendent, Reading Community City Schools
