Kailynn McComas (2016 Grad) and Corey Frank (2017 Grad), both Reading High School graduates, are not your typical alumni. They are both accomplished athletes and professionals who are making a difference in their communities in unique ways. Kailynn is a school counselor at Princeton City Schools, and Corey is an accountant at Sun Chemical. They also share a passion for lifting weights and have competed in powerlifting and strongman competitions together.
Kailynn has also recently published her debut children’s book, ‘We Rise By Lifting Others.’ The book aims to spread love, kindness, and acceptance regardless of age, race, gender identity, etc. Kailynn's message in her book aligns with her advocacy work for underrepresented students and youth in her community. She continues to advocate for students' needs both inside and outside of the classroom.
Apart from being an accomplished author and counselor, Kailynn is also a competitive athlete. She competes in Strongwoman, recently taking first place in her weight class and will now be competing at Regionals in July with a chance to lift at Strongwoman Corporation Nationals in the Fall. Her message of love, kindness, and acceptance is reflected in her athletic pursuits, where she lifts to inspire and motivate others.
Corey is also a competitive athlete who competes in strongman competitions. He has placed 2nd in Ohio's Strongest and Akron's Strongest for his weight class. Corey is an advocate for the motto, ‘we rise by lifting others’ and actively works to inspire and motivate others to achieve their goals.
Kailynn and Corey's story is unique in that they share a passion for lifting weights and have competed together in powerlifting and strongman competitions. They are both graduates of Bowling Green State University, with Kailynn holding a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and a Master’s in Education with a specialization in School Counseling. Corey holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting.
Their love for lifting weights has not only inspired their personal and professional lives but has also helped them break multiple state records in powerlifting. During their time in powerlifting, Kailynn broke over 10 state records on squat, bench, and deadlift, and joined the 1,000lbs club. Corey also placed 2nd at the Ohio State Championships in 2022.
As they prepare for Regionals, Kailynn and Corey continue to train hard, lift heavy, and advocate for love, kindness, and acceptance in their communities. They hope to inspire others to achieve their goals and lift others along the way.
Congratulations to Kailynn McComas and Corey Frank for their incredible achievements and for being outstanding alumni of Reading High School. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and in their upcoming competitions!
