The Reading community is invited to the grand opening of the Chad Richmond Memorial Court on June 27 at 2:30 PM at the Hilltop Athletic Complex. This event marks the culmination of a three-year fundraising effort by the family of Chad Richmond, supported by numerous donors, to honor all veterans who have suffered from PTSD.
The Hilltop basketball court holds significant meaning for the Richmond family. As Chad’s mother, Regina Richmond, shared, “The Hilltop basketball court was a place where my son, Chad Richmond, developed his love for basketball as a child, honed his skills on the court as a teenager, and found refuge from his PTSD as an adult". The Hilltop basketball court was in desperate need of repair and Chad Richmond's family has graciously raised funds to help save the basketball court in honor of Chad.
“This memorial court will not only serve as a lasting tribute to Chad Richmond's legacy but also as a space for our athletes and community to grow, learn, and excel,” said Reading Schools Superintendent Dr. Davis at the groundbreaking ceremony. “We can't wait to see the positive impact it will have on our community.”
The grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guest speakers, and the unveiling of the renovated court. The Reading community is encouraged to attend and celebrate this significant milestone. The court aims to provide a safe and enjoyable space for basketball and other activities, ensuring Chad Richmond’s legacy and the contributions of all veterans are honored.
