The EL students have been celebrating the many different cultures that are present in our
classroom. Students have been sharing in our EL tutoring groups all of the things we are most
thankful for from our different cultures and nationalities - family traditions, foods, music, customs
etc.
Some of the various cultures and nationalities within Reading are: Guatemala, Mexico,
Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt, Brazil, India, Ghana, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Mali,
Mauritania & Cameroon.
This past Friday November the 22nd, the EL students celebrated a "Friendsgiving Feast" with
many foods from different countries and cultures. Food was provided and many families also
brought in foods from their native country to share - Thank you!
Some of the many delicious foods the EL students shared together were:
Brigadeiro from Brazil
Kheer (rice pudding) & Chicken Tikki Masala from India
Tamales from Guatemala
Chicken Shawarma & Tabouli salad and Naan from Syria
Mantoo from Afghanistan
Chicken Tikki Masala from India
Ghanian Fufu & stew
Venezuelan Tequenos (cheese sticks)
Tacos & Pupusas from Mexico / El Salvador
