Guest Speaker Shares Sweet Success Story with 8th Grade Students

Students in Mr. Sharp's 8th-grade career exploration class recently welcomed a special visitor who brought wisdom and an entrepreneurial perspective to the classroom. Mr. Randy Young, President and CEO of the beloved Cincinnati institution Aglamesis Brothers Ice Cream and Chocolate Company, shared his diverse career journey and business insights with eager students.

Young, who oversees three retail shops and two manufacturing locations employing 80 people, emphasizes the importance of following one's passions and embracing lifelong learning. His own path exemplifies this philosophy—despite holding a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Ohio State University, Young's career has spanned multiple industries and leadership roles.

As the third-generation leader of the Aglamesis family business, Young took the helm in 2016, continuing the legacy of his stepfather, James Aglamesis, who led the company for over 60 years. However, his leadership experience began much earlier. At just 21, he co-founded the Cincinnati Herpetological Society, beginning a lifelong dedication to organizational development and community service.

Mr. Young has held numerous leadership positions throughout his career, including Vice President of the Dayton Real Estate Investors Association, President of the Dayton Microcomputer Association, and Executive Director of the Ohio Technology Access Project. His commitment to community service extends to his church work, where he has served in various roles, including President of the Church Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio.

Young's diverse experience and success in business management gave students valuable insights into what it takes to run a successful enterprise while maintaining a commitment to personal growth and community involvement. His message to students was clear: never stop learning, follow your passions, and be open to where life's journey may lead you.
