Power of the Pen District Tournament

Power of the Pen Teams Excel at District Tournament

The creative voices of our young writers shone brightly at the recent Power of the Pen District Tournament held on January 18. Our talented students demonstrated exceptional skill and imagination in their interscholastic writing competitions, with several achieving notable recognition.

Seventh graders made a particularly strong showing, with Mya Brombaugh and Noelani Awalt placing 7th and 11th overall, respectively. In an outstanding achievement, seventh grader Josie Crate's story "Happiness" earned the prestigious "Best in Round" award, which will be presented at the upcoming regional tournament ceremony.

Seven of our talented writers have qualified to advance to the Power of the Pen Regional Tournament, scheduled for February 22 at Cincinnati Country Day School. The qualifying seventh-grade team members are Riley Ash, Noelani Awalt, Mya Brombaugh, Josie Crate, and Aubree Haddix. Adriana Arszman and Alyssa Morris represent the eighth grade.

Power of the Pen empowers students to discover and develop their unique creative voices through competitive district, regional, and state writing tournaments. Our teams' success at the district tournament reflects their dedication to the craft of writing and hours of preparation leading up to the competition.

"I am incredibly proud of all our writers for their hard work and dedication in preparing for the competition, allowing their creativity to truly shine," shared Mrs. Erin Marquez. "Their achievements at the district level demonstrate both their talent and commitment to excellence in creative writing."
