Reading Elementary Hosts Exciting Touch-A-Truck Event

On Tuesday, March 18th, Reading Elementary was filled with excitement as students got an up-close look at a variety of impressive vehicles during the school’s first Touch-A-Truck event. This hands-on experience gave children the opportunity to explore emergency response vehicles, service trucks, and even a high-tech drone, sparking curiosity and appreciation for the people who keep our community running.

A huge thank you goes out to the organizations and businesses that made this event possible. The Reading Fire Department brought their fire truck, giving students the chance to see the tools and equipment used by real-life heroes. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office wowed the crowd with their advanced drone, showcasing how technology aids in law enforcement. Rumpke brought one of their massive garbage trucks, giving students insight into the importance of waste management and recycling. The City of Reading contributed by displaying essential service vehicles that keep our town functioning smoothly. The U.S. Army Reserve impressed attendees with their military vehicle, offering a glimpse into the work of our nation’s service members. Mike’s Mobile Veterinary Service provided a unique perspective on animal care, bringing a mobile clinic that demonstrated how veterinarians help keep pets and farm animals healthy. WCPO Channel 9 News for bringing their broadcast van, giving students the opportunity to see firsthand how news is delivered to the community. Their presence added an exciting media and technology component to the event, inspiring young minds interested in journalism and broadcasting.

Reading Elementary extends its sincere gratitude to all the participating organizations for their time, generosity, and dedication to educating and inspiring our students. Events like these create lasting memories and encourage future career aspirations. We look forward to another successful Touch-A-Truck event next year!
