Reading Elementary Career Week Recap

This past week, Reading Elementary hosted its annual Career Week, and it was a tremendous success thanks to the support of our community, local businesses, and dedicated staff members. Students from all grade levels had the opportunity to engage in a variety of hands-on and meaningful career exploration activities.

The week kicked off with our Touch-a-Truck event, where students were able to explore a wide range of vehicles and equipment, learning firsthand from professionals in fields such as mobile vet services, public safety, transportation, and more. The excitement and curiosity from our students were incredible to witness.

Throughout the week, we welcomed numerous guest speakers into our classrooms who shared their career journeys, experiences, and advice with our students. Their stories sparked questions, inspired ideas, and opened minds to new possibilities for the future.

Our 7th and 8th grade students participated in a highly engaging Reality Day, where they were challenged to make real-world decisions based on career choices, budgeting, and life scenarios. This eye-opening experience helped them begin to connect classroom learning with practical life skills.

We are deeply grateful to all of the businesses and individuals who volunteered their time and resources to make this week so special. Your willingness to connect with our students and invest in their future is truly appreciated.

A special thank you goes to Ms. Sewall and Mrs. Stinson for their incredible effort in organizing and coordinating the many moving parts of Career Week. Their leadership and dedication ensured a smooth, meaningful experience for everyone involved.

Thank you to everyone who played a role in making Career Week a success. Together, we’re helping our students dream big and plan for a bright future.
