Reading Community Schools is proud to announce that the district has once again earned the Auditor of State Award, presented by Ryan Holiday on behalf of Auditor of State Keith Faber. This marks the third consecutive year—2022, 2023, and 2024—that the district has received this honor, which recognizes excellence in financial accountability and transparency. Reading has also earned this recognition in previous years under prior leadership.
The Auditor of State Award is presented to public entities across Ohio that achieve a “clean” audit. Only 13% of all public entities in the state meet the rigorous criteria required for this distinction.
To be eligible for the award, entities must file timely financial reports, in accordance with GAAP accounting standards, and their audit must be free of findings for recovery, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, or any other compliance concerns. In addition, the audit’s management letter must be clear of issues such as ethics referrals, bank reconciliation problems, and public records concerns.
This achievement reflects the consistent dedication of our district’s fiscal team, led by Treasurer Jen Burke, Accountant Janie Harris, and Payroll and Benefits Specialist Kelly Feld. Their diligent work ensures Reading Schools remains fiscally responsible, compliant, and transparent.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Janie, Kelly, district administration, the Board of Education, and all Reading Schools staff for their support and commitment to maintaining the highest standards in financial operations.
